As is our tradition, our Year 12 Seminar Day was held at the Brighton Seacliff Yacht Club on Friday 31 January and what a day it was. Unlike the previous few years where we were blessed with clear blue skies and pleasant temperatures, this year coincided with one of the muggiest days that Adelaide has experienced for several years – in fact, the best description was that the air was hugging us all! Our wonderful year 12 students took it in their stride and enjoyed a full day of learning, eating, laughing and helping each other as they learnt about a huge variety of topics from looking after their wellbeing to how the SACE works (and why you should never, ever plagiarise!) as well as referencing, using technology smartly and hearing from past scholars to get their perspective (and to provide some perspective on year 12 itself, which is often portrayed as being a ‘be all and end all’ year but is really nothing of the kind!). Alumni Dev’s story about leadership was particularly well received. Overall it was a brilliant day and students left enthused for the year ahead while staff continue to marvel at just how incredible our ASMS students are.

Students also received order forms for the optional Year 12 jumper and for workbooks and revision guides that are recommended for purchase by year 12 teachers for a number of subjects. Please submit these forms at your earliest convenience.

A year 12 information night is being held on Wednesday 18 March and we encourage you to put this date in your diary. The evening will provide you with information about Year 12 completion, processes involved when applying for University/TAFE placement and offers the opportunity to speak with your child’s subject teachers.
