Learning through exploration… even for Year 12s!  It’s hard to imagine the different sizes of cell organelles in proportion to each other and sometimes looking at the numbers just doesn’t cut it!  In small groups, students chose a different organelle and had to build a scale 3D scale model relative to the gazebo (giant plant cell) we had up.  Presentations took place inside the ‘cell’ where each group explained the structure, function and diseases that occur, of their organelle.  The giant plant cell activity was used as an introduction to the organelles inside a eukaryotic cell.
