Last week in Body in Question we took a deep dive into the social determinants of health, and the impact of health on society. Students explored a health condition of their choice and investigated the greater implications of this on not only individuals but their families and society. Participants were able to develop an understanding of their role in health advocacy in society and develop their social awareness capability.

“I don’t think I’d ever really stopped to consider the social implications of dementia. I had an understanding of the impact on the individual, but this task opened my eyes to the impact economically and on the whole community” (Taylor – student).
