On Friday 13 March, myself (Amelia) and Suyeon were lucky to attend the 2020 UN Youth state conference focusing on youth activism in the 21st century. We got to stay at the beautiful Nunyara Conference centre from Friday to Sunday and participated in a range of interactive activities. These included a model UN debate, workshops explaining youth activism, a campaign making session, and much more.
One of my favourite sessions was the speaker panel. I got to listen and ask questions to activists such as Nat Cook and a member from School Strike for Climate (SS4C). It was really inspiring to hear about why they became activists and how they achieved success. Apart from learning, we got to meet a bunch a new people from all around south Australia.
Attending the UN youth state conference was one of the best experiences I’ve had this year and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s interested.
