In Truth and Perception (TaP) students are currently completing the analysis work necessary to complete their Intertextual Study. The visual texts they are comparing and contrasting are The Matrix and The Truman Show. Through this interactive activity, students ‘look behind the curtain’ and explore how cinematic techniques are used to convey ideas and meaning.

“What is real? How do you define ‘real’? If you’re talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then ‘real’ is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain.” ~ Morpheus (character in the Matrix, actor Laurence Fishburne)

“We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented.” ~ Christof (character in The Trueman Show, actor Ed Harris)
