Middle School Science teachers from around South Australia are spending time at the ASMS to deepen their understanding and skills in delivering engaging, inquiry based learning experiences to their Science students.
The visitors have developed their own inquiry questions focusing on pedagogy in Science education such as ‘How do students benefit from working collaboratively?’ or ‘Does problem based learning increase student engagement?’. During their time at the ASMS they are participating in a range of activities to allow them to develop responses to their questions including working collaboratively to create rubber band powered cars (with optimal elastic potential energy transfer to kinetic energy and reduced friction). They have also spent time observing ASMS students at work as well as participating in the Quidditch grand final! The visiting teachers will be returning throughout the year to share their reflections on their Inquiry question, and to further engage with the ASMS and with each other.
