Learning Conversations for Term 1 will be held at the following times in 20 minute allocations:
Wednesday 1 April from 3.30pm – 7.00pm
Tuesday 7 April from 1.00pm – 6.00pm
Participation in a Learning Conversation is a required part of student learning at the ASMS. Students should negotiate a mutually acceptable time with you and their Learning Studies Teacher.
This is the only formal reporting procedure for the term. A full written assessment will be sent home next term at the end of the semester.
Students will reflect on their progress using their ePortfolio to demonstrate evidence of their learning and development of capabilities (Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, Critical and Creative Thinking, Personal and Social, Ethical Understanding and Intercultural Understanding).
The learning conversations will be scheduled for a maximum of 15 minutes and we expect that the students make the management of this time limit a part of their preparation. They have been provided time in Learning Studies in order to prepare for these conversations.
Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions of their child relating to engagement, general capabilities growth, accomplishments, pathway aspirations and to initiate future strategies where needed. Please note that the conversations will be held in reasonably public places (the learning commons) and confidential matters should be discussed on other occasions if necessary.
To book an appointment with your child’s Learning Studies Teacher, please use our online booking form that can be accessed from Learning Conversation button on the home page of the ASMS Portal (https://portal.asms.sa.edu.au/). You will receive a confirmation email once your booking has been saved. If you are not available for an appointment within the dates provided, please contact your child’s Learning Studies Teacher to arrange an alternative time.
Students may choose to stay at school after 5:00pm on these days to await your arrival, but they should realise that staff will be fully engaged with Learning Conversations so we ask them to engage in quiet study in the designated area. They will also need to sign in as usual.
Please contact your Learning Studies teacher if you have any questions.
