From time to time teachers at the ASMS are absent from their classes. Sometimes this is because of planned absences so they can attend professional learning and other activities connected to their work and at other times this may be unplanned absence (sickness, carer’s leave etc). During semester 2 we will be trialling some new approaches for when teachers are absent.
What does this mean for students? Student learning will continue to be at the centre of our decision making. During semester 2 a range of the following options may be used to support teacher absence:
- Other ASMS teachers cover sessions
- Relief teachers are employed to cover sessions
- Classes are combined
- Students work independently at school on the required learning of the course
