The She Leads Conference was run on the 8th May by the YWCA.

The focus of the conference was to empower young female leaders of today and tomorrow to grow, and to find their voice. Our girls were able to select several breakout sessions to participate in, where strong inspirational women shared their unique stories about their rise to leadership and gave advice to their ‘younger selves’. A favourite speaker was Sarah Hanson-Young, an Australian Greens Senator for South Australia and a passionate voice for change in the federal parliament. In 2007 she was the youngest person ever elected to the Senate. Sarah spoke about the challenges she faced to be heard amongst the older, predominately male cohort in her field. Meg (our ASMS student) felt “it was empowering to know that women in ALL fields CAN succeed!”
