Both the ASMS Year 10 Debating Team and the ASMS Senior Debating Team represented the school yesterday evening in the Debating SA Quarter Finals!
The Senior team debated; That we should “unfriend” Facebook.
The year 10 team debated; That Turnbull should have stayed in Parliament until the next election.
Both teams performed exceptionally well as inexperienced teams to make the finals and give more experienced debaters a run for their money. Our Year 11 team was touted by the adjudicator as a potential grand finalist next year as their sophisticated understanding of the technology giant Facebook was nearly too much for the 2017 champions from Nuriootpa High School. Hansen, our second speaker, received the Best Debater award on the night for his more than seven minute speech explaining the Cambridge Analytica scandal and rebutting the opposition points.
Looking forward to an even better year next year working with the team as they develop their critical and creative thinking skills.
