It’s that time of the year when our year 11’s start thinking about their final year of secondary school as they are considering which year 12 subjects they wish to study in 2021. There’s lots to think about and to discuss; what pathway(s) to plan for, personal interests and aspirations and what options are available. Students have been talking about these things as part of the Learning Studies program and the upcoming Learning Conversations will provide more opportunity to discuss which may be the best options. At our recent Year 11 into Year 12 Parent Information night participants had the opportunity to talk with teachers and year 12 students about what is involved in the various subjects on offer, we also outlined the range of alternative pathways into university study available for ASMS students. If you missed this event check out the portal for short videos of each session.

We have been busy welcoming potential new students into our school on our Observation Days. Having the chance to experience being an ASMS student by buddying-up with a current student provides the opportunity to see the ASMS through a student’s eyes. Our ASMS buddies are very proud of their school and are doing a fabulous job of making our visitors feel very welcome.

You will read a bit more about our special CAMP week in this edition of Learning@ASMS. A slightly different program for us this year, we are excited to be trying something a bit new for us with students planning their own week of challenged based learning on their passion and curiosity. They certainly have some fun activities planned and I look forward to being involved in some of their activities.
