The ASMS welcomes enrolments from students in the following range of international student study programs; High School Graduate Program, High School Study Abroad Program, Study Tours, Special Events Programs and Student Exchanges.

The Australian Government wants overseas students in Australia to have a safe, enjoyable and rewarding place to study. Australia’s laws promote quality education and consumer protection for overseas students. These laws are known as the ESOS framework and they include the Education Services for Overseas (ESOS) Act 2000 and the National Code 2007.

Our Student Study Programs provide international students with a world-class education and the opportunity to live and study alongside Australian students. You may enter this program in level Year 10 or 11 depending on your age and prior education. Direct entry into Year 12 is not encouraged.

This program offers the opportunity to participate in the normal academic schedule with South Australian students, integrate into the school and local communities and improve your English proficiency.

There may also be the opportunity to participate in a variety of state, national and international competitions providing a further challenge, testing skills and knowledge in areas such as leadership and business enterprise.

International students study the same program as local students. Please look at curriculum information on this site for more information.

  • SACE certificate or school transcript upon completion

High School Graduate Program

The High School Graduate Program is available as a 3-year course to gain the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) Certificate after completing years 10 to 12. The SACE Certificate gains you entry into University. Most Universities around the world accept the South Australian Certificate of Education.

Students can make a choice of subjects at senior high school level that will compliment their own interests and ambitions for tertiary study. Career counsellors will help advise students on the most appropriate choice including prerequisite subjects required for specific tertiary education courses.

High School Study Abroad

The High School Study Abroad Program is available as a 1 to 4 term (one year) program. A program of less than one term can also be arranged. You can commence your High School Study Abroad Program at the beginning of any school term.

Your studies can be made up of high school studies, high school studies combined with Intensive Secondary English Course (ISEC) or ISEC. Your level of English proficiency will determine the number of weeks of ISEC required.

Study Tours

The Australian Science and Mathematics School welcomes the opportunity to host short-term Study Tours.

We provide uniquely Australian experiences for small groups of international students and accompanying teachers wishing to experience the language, lifestyle and landscapes of Australia. To see a short introduction to the ASMS and Australia see here.

Homestay Hosting

A most important aspect of the Study Programs is the Homestay. Hosting a homestay student is a chance to learn first hand about another culture, and build life-long international friendships without leaving the country. It also provides you with an opportunity to rediscover Adelaide yourself by showing our wonderful state to an International Student.

Hosting can be for:

  • Homestay hosting for Study Tour Programs conducted on a fee for service basis and thus there is a payment made for homestay accommodation. The length of stay is between 1 and 3 weeks.
  • Homestay hosting for High School Study Abroad Programs conducted on a fee for service basis and thus there is a payment made for homestay accommodation. The length of stay is between 1 and 4 terms.
  • Homestay hosting for High School Graduate Programs conducted on a fee for service basis and thus there is a payment made for homestay accommodation. The length of stay is between 1 and 3 years.
