While not being able to take credit for organising the Lunar Eclipse it was a fitting end to the first week of the second Earth and Cosmos module where our focus shifts from our home planet to the cosmos. Students have been using Stellarium to explore and collect measurements of planets and orbits of other objects in space. This data has then been used as a starting point for our current focus on the principles of trigonometry. Following the assessment of this unit next Wednesday focus will shift to exploring ideas expressed in Space themed science fiction and a scientific examination of exoplanets.
