“YES we should… NO we should not…” Whose argument is stronger?!

Students in Learning Studies recently completed a debating challenge, competing against other classes. Getting involved in debating develops one of the key focus capabilities for ASMS students in 2017: Critical and Creative Thinking. Students can reflect in their ePortfolios on how well they were able to demonstrate the focus element, “identifying, exploring and organising information and ideas” from the Australian Curriculum standards. An ‘all-star’ team from each colour group will compete for maximum ASMS Trophy points in week 10.

The topics were connected to their Central Studies subjects:

  • That the Internet of Things will result in an unacceptable risk to humanity (Internet of Things)
  • That there should be a tax on sugar (Body in Question)
  • That coal is good for humanity (Semester 2: Energy equation)
