The ASMS welcomed the United States Consul General Rachel Cooke on Thursday 28 September. During her visit Consul Cooke spoke with many ASMS students about their interest in science & mathematics and experiences as an ASMS student.

Students who had earlier in the week pitched their idea for the Space Mission Experiment as part of the International Astronautical Congress outlined the experiment they had designed and the roles each had played in the team.

They were able to hear of Consul Cooke’s career pathway which included a degree in Marine Science and how she had taken opportunities to work in many different parts of the world. A key message was that young people need skills and capabilities to collaborate and to think in critical and creative ways in addressing a range of challenges.
