Whilst the ASMS has held public exhibitions in previous years, none were on the same scale as the Concept and Create Expo!

The expo focused on a semester of work from our Year 10/11 students, who worked through the manufacturing process from concept to creation. Seventy five student teams displayed and demonstrated their learning and product design to students and staff from ASMS and other schools, mentor entrepreneurs, investors, politicians and industry professionals. All were encouraged to provide feedback for each team by scanning each stall’s QR code to enter feedback, and at the end of the day, our guest judges announced the top three products:

  • Most Developed, Innovative and Creative Concept went to Julie, Molly, and Theresa for their No-Drip Ice-Cream Cone (website|pitch)
  • Greatest Ability to Communicate with Audience about their Design Journey went to Phoebe, Harmony, Josiah, and Chelsea for the Hydrosol (website|pitch)
  • Best Overall Display including a Website, Poster Designs, and Marketing Success, went to Anika, Anastasia, and Alina for their BioStraws (website|pitch).

The expo was featured on 4 Corners as part their ‘Future Proof’ story, which focused on the future of the Australian workforce. This story can be viewed on the ABC website. A staff/student media team also took photos throughout the event, which can be viewed in the Concept & Create Expo album on our school’s Facebook page.

A huge thanks once again to all of our guests – it’s great to see what students can do when they put their minds to it, and we’re very proud of what they managed to achieve!
