Amanda’s Year 12 Chem students are busy learning about the enthalpy (ΔH) of reactions this week!
Students have set up their equipment to observe the combustion of various alcohols. The heat energy is transferred to a beaker of water above the flame. Students compare their experimental ΔH to the published ΔH for each alcohol, assess why there is a difference in these values, then re-design their own experiment to try and get a ΔH value closer to the actual published values. Too awesome!
