In Mathbeth, students are making and testing mathematical models to capture Macbeth from his castle. As you can see, they are really engaged!

This creative learning activity is part of the Communication Systems module focusing on Shakespeare’s Macbeth to develop an understanding of how mathematical modelling can be used in a real-life situation. Through analysing the tragic storyline and poetic beauty of Shakespeare’s number one tragedy students were able to make connections between the times the play was set in, relevant historical instances and the uncanny ability of mathematics to make sense of what can seem a random event such as an attack.
