You might notice something different next time you walk through the ASMS’ foyer…
With guidance from teacher Matt Jamieson, a group of ASMS students built a quarter-scale replica of the famed ‘Fokker Dr1 Triplane’; a plane made famous by the 80-kill ace Manfred von Richthofen, ‘The Red Baron,’ with his ‘Flying Circus’.
The fully-functional plane was built from a kit, including all construction and covering – a two term task! The plane will be powered by a 30cc petrol motor.
There are no skills required, but students must be prepared to undertake slow, meticulous work, and demonstrate high levels of patience. Model building is very slow, but very rewarding.
