Students in the Internet of Things (IoT) Central Study are currently hard at work finishing off their ‘ASMS Kickstarter’ websites, which is the major summative English component that they have been working on for most of the semester. While they have been developing IoT sensor devices using the Arduino platform (connected to a myriad of sensors), students have been creating a website to encourage a target audience to ‘pledge’ for their product. To do this, they have analysed the key components of publicly funded Kickstarter projects and applied the same persuasive techniques, conventions, language and stylistic features to their own website. This week there was a structured group discussion, which was a final opportunity for peer feedback. The photographs show some of the impressive work students have completed.
