Inspirational actions from Isabella, year 12:  “From the 19th to the 26th of June, I participated in the Act for Peace Ration Challenge, to raise funds and awareness for Syrian refugees. For the week, I was living off a strict diet of the exact rations as a refugee living in a camp in Jordan, which consisted of a small amount of rice, flour, lentils, chick peas, beans, fish and oil. I encouraged my friends and family to support me by sponsoring me to undergo this challenge, and even influenced a few people to start the challenge themselves! The hardest part was undoubtedly the temptations, as I had to turn down invites to the sushi train, work in a lolly shop, and be surrounded by friends eating my favourite foods. However, I know that what I experienced doesn’t come close to what life is like for refugees – as I’m sure that the rations that they are given are the least of their worries. This small insight into what daily life is like for some was nothing short of eye-opening. Fortunately, through the overwhelming support of my sponsors, and my (over) sharing on social media, I was able to proudly raise $2654.28, which will go towards providing food rations, medical care, education and other essential support for Syrian refugees.”
