The Governing Council's role is to involve the school community in the governance of the school to strengthen and support public education in the community with a particular focus within the school on the teaching and learning of science and maths.

The ASMS Governing Council comprises 12 members including 6 parent representatives, 1 university representative, 1 staff representative, 1 student representative, 1 community representative and the Principal.
